Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer RI Reviews 5

This is that lovely puke green colored overdrive people that is synonymous with a great blues tone and getting your tube amp to work overtime. This is the reissue of the original Tube Screamer Ibanez put out in the 80s.

I idolized Stevie Ray Vaughan and hoped owning this pedal with get me closer to his tone. Along with thicker strings and a cranked Fender tube amp you can get close. Ibanez knew with original TS808s going for crazy money on the vintage used market they could charge $180 for this people, which is somewhat steep, but a great pedal none the less.

It is a much needed improvement from the TS-9. The Overdrive, Tone and Level knobs are easy to understand. The styling of this pedal is cool and retro like the original.

I don't like the LEDs on this series of Ibanez pedals. They are hard to read. In a perfect world, this pedal would have a bit more volume. It is a nice mellow dark overdrive on its own, but I highly suggest placing a clean boost before it.

Metal boz plastic knobs. I have broken knobs off of a TS-9 before. So far so good on the 808. The switch I would guess will be the first thing to go.

A great overdrive pedal, but a little pricey. You are almost getting yourself into a boutique pedal price range. However, it is one of the best and by far a classic overdrive.
